New DILG chief vows ‘more transparency, accountability’

One of Jesse Robredo’s priorities as head of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) is to make the agency transparent and more accountable.

“Ninanais po namin na maging transparent ang local government units. Satransparency and accountability ay dapat kaming mauna (We want all local government units to be transparent, so we have to set an example)," Robredo said Sunday in an interview on radio dzBB.

PRESIDENT Benigno Aquino III has appointed Jesse Robredo, a former head of the national association of city mayors, as head of the Interior and Local Government Department, Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa Jr. said Friday.

The President held the post in a concurrent capacity from June 30 until he tapped Robredo, a former Naga City mayor and who led the League of Cities of the Philippines in 1995.
